Studies are now showing that your immune system can be controlled by the suggestions of your mind.
Wim Hof is a Dutch world record holder who became famous by his ability to risk a cold. Scientists started become interested in Wim Hof’s methods and began studying how he goes about getting through cold season.
The scientists learned that Hof’s methods are similar the Tibetan “Tummo” Technique which is also knows as yoga of the inner heart. A lot of the yoga begins with third-eye meditation along with breathing methods.
The scientists also began a study with 24 volunteers, including 12 people trained in the Wim Hof method and 12 who did not undergo any training. They were subjected to the inflammation test, during which they were injected with a strain of bacteria that provokes flu-like symptoms.
As a result, the volunteers who underwent training with Hof reported fewer and less intense flu-like symptoms than those who did not. At the same time, volunteers produced smaller amounts of proteins related to inflammation, and higher levels of interleukin-10, an inflammation-fighting protein.
This isn’t the first study to be done with consciousness and sickness. There have been recent studies that suggest that a healthy mind can fight off allergic reactions and even slow down cancer cell growth.
