Blue Moon Halloween Ritual October 2020

halloween blue moon ritual 2020

The October 31st Blue Moon guides us to connect with higher realms, our loved ones passed, and to surrender to the flow of our lives.

Falling on the observed day of Samhain (which birthed Halloween), a time where the veil between dimensions is thin, this Blue Moon guides us to reflect on our own cycles of death and rebirth.

What has “died”? Where have we been reborn? What is still lingering in-between these two states?

Even though there is some volatile energy swirling with this Blue Moon, like a blessing it falls in the earthy sign of Taurus, reminding us to stay grounded and centered.

Whether we are caught in the chaos of the cosmic energies or whether we are traveling to higher realms, this earth-energy will help us to stay rooted and connected to our being.

To guide you through these ultra potent, yet magical energies, here is a ritual to guide you:

Blue Moon Halloween Ritual 2020

This ritual is best done on the night of the 31st in your local time zone, but it can also be done between October 29-November 4, 2020.

Feel free to adapt the ritual to your needs.

You will need:

  • Cleansing tool of choice
  • Cosmic Meditation- “I am Aligned”
  • Candle (preferably white)
  • Pin/safety pin for carving into your candle (if your candle is in a glass jar you can also just use a marker)
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary, sage, or lavender work best)
  • Sea salt
  • Mortar and Pestle
  • Pen and Paper
  • Blue Moon Lunar Reading (optional)

Directions:

1.) Use your cleansing tool to clear your aura, your space, and your ritual ingredients. As you cleanse your aura, feel free to recite the following-

“I surround myself in love and light. A seal of protection forms around my body, mind, and soul. I am safe. I am loved. I am infinitely protected. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

As you cleanse your surroundings and ritual ingredients, feel free to recite the following-

“My space is cleansed, my space is protected. Only love and light dwells in this space. Only the energy of the highest light is welcome in this space. These ingredients are now cleansed and purified. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

2.) Take your pen and paper and write down a list of things you would like to leave behind. These can be emotions, events, or behaviors from your past that you no longer wish to carry with you. Feel free to write as many down as you wish.

3.) Take your paper and rip it into tiny pieces. As you rip the paper, imagine releasing and letting go of all those things from your past that you no longer wish to hold onto. Leave the pieces to the side.

4.) Get your mortar and pestle and add your fresh herbs and the ripped pieces of paper. (If your mortar is too small to hold it all, it’s ok to just add a few pieces of paper).

Begin grinding them up together. As you grind, imagine that you are really releasing, cleansing, and letting it all go. Get all your emotion out as you pound and crush your paper along with the herbs.

5.) Once your herbs are crushed take your sea salt and sprinkle it over the herb mixture in the mortar. The salt is going to cleanse and purify. As you sprinkle, feel free to recite the following-

“I cleanse and purify the past. I release all that no longer serves. The old is gone and the past is just a wise memory. I bring myself forward now into the present moment, focusing on that which I wish to attract for my highest self and my brightest future.”

6.) Once the salt has been sprinkled in, lightly grind it all together again, just allowing the salt to cleanse and purify the energies. Leave your mortar and pestle to the side.

7.) Shake out your body and then get in a comfortable position for your “I am Aligned” Meditation. This will help you to get into alignment for the next part of the ritual.

8.) After your meditation is complete, take your candle and either carve (very carefully!) or write using a marker, things that you would like to attract and bring in to your life. You can write words or create symbols.

9.) Light the candle and just take a moment to say a prayer of gratitude towards yourself, the people around you, the planet, and your life overall. Speak from your heart. If you like, you can say it aloud or you can write it down as journal prompt.

10.) With your candle burning, do your Full Blue Moon Reading if using. Pay attention to the message you receive and see if your own intuition can take the message further.

11.) Optional: if you would like to honor a loved one passed, you can put a photo of them near the candle along with some fresh flowers, maybe some incense, and their favorite food. Leave the candle burning for as long as it’s safe to do so.

Send the departed souls in your life lots of love and if you like, ask them to bring you a sign, a dream, a message, or see if you can make contact with them as you meditate in front of the candle.

Once the candle has been snuffed out, your ritual is complete.

Once your ritual is complete, return the herbs and paper to the earth in whatever way is most convenient.

Blue Moon Blessings to you!
