The High Priestess and The 8 of Cups

The Equinox on March 19-20th, 2020, is marked by the Sun moving into the sign of Aries. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, so when the Sun enters this sign, it represents the start of a new cycle and the start of the astrological year.

With the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere, we feel the changing of the seasons as well as the changing in the cosmos.

These changes impact the earth around us and the energy that we feel. In the Northern Hemisphere, our days are growing longer and we see signs of life in the blooming flowers and chirping birds.

In the Southern Hemisphere, our days are growing shorter and our energy goes inward. Trees lose their leaves and farmers take in their harvests.

Both the Spring and the Fall Equinox have their own beauty. We all have our favorite things about each season and gifts they bring.

During this time of infinite changes, I pulled cards for reflection. We are experiencing these changes during a global period of unrest and confusion. Many of us are practicing social distancing and our normal routines have been altered in some way.

Our cards speak to these changes with hard truth and sage advice. Both speak to a time of slowing down and resetting our lives.

The first card is the 8 of Cups. It often points to a period of stagnation and ill-health. A time where we feel tired and unable to generate positive energy.

The broken glasses on the at the bottom of the card represent things we are mourning during this time. Many of us have lost routines, joyous gatherings, and normal freedoms.

The high peaks in the background represent the thought that it will always be like this. We are having a hard time seeing the light through the dark.

However, the of 8 of Cups should not be viewed with fear. It’s here to offer its truth and wisdom.

It says, don’t hold on to what you wish was happening or focus on what you are loosing. Accept things as they are and have compassion of yourself.

See what might be waiting for you on the other side of the mountain. Once you climb over the peaks, a new place of being will open up.

Perhaps a place where we are more community oriented and selfless. A place where creativity thrives and we know what is truly important.

To get to this place, you need to put down the broken glasses and start the journey. Of course there are hardships ahead, change is often a messy process. But through this process of letting go, we can connect to what matters.

The High Priestess is another card that points to a period of slowing down. But in this card we see it as stillness rather than stagnation.

In Tarot, the High Priestess is the second card on the Fool’s journey. Though we just started, she is already calling us to pause because she knows the importance of rest and reflection.

She gives us clues on how to move forward during this time. She call us to tap into our intuition and psychic abilities to see through the fog of our current world.

She wants us to use our gifts to see the light that surrounds us in the dark. She wants us to feel our angels, ancestors, and messengers, as they are always supporting us.

If you create moments of stillness, the energy of the High Priestess will be able to enter your world. She will give you insights to the positivity and light in your future. She will send you messages of peace.

To tap into her energy, take five minutes to meditate and send out compassion to others. Turn off the news, podcasts or Netflix, and do some deep breathing. Take a break and walk outside. Record your dreams after waking up.

She knows that the arch of the universe will inevitably bend toward goodness and she wants to fill us with that knowledge as well.

Allow the High Priestess to support you this week. Ask for her guidance as you move through the heaviness of the 8 of Cups.

Ask for her gifts as we celebrate the Equinox and astrological new year. We will make it through this time and become stronger on the other side.

Mantras for the week:

Through the process of letting go, I can connect to what matters.

In a place of stillness, wisdom speaks to me.
