The Hermit and The Knight of Wands

The Hermit carries a lantern at his side and braves the snowy mountains. His feet are bare but he is filled with warmth.

Light and heat are radiating from inside of him. He is teeming with passion and appreciate for life. He is aware of the preciousness of existence. He is aware that each moment is fleeting.

In his bones he feels how short our time is on earth. This knowledge does not make him depressed or anxious, instead it gives him a beautiful perspective. He inhabits the moment, he doesn’t take anything for granted, and he does not stress the small annoyances.

He has grown a profound bond with himself and the earth. He walks in gratitude, grateful to be alive and to spend time on this magical planet. He looks around and says, “This won’t be here for long. I will love it as long as I am able.”

The Hermit card often references the personal spiritual journeys used by many cultures. Indigenous Australians partake in ‘Walkabouts’, Native Americans have the ritual of ‘Vision Quests’, and many people use labyrinth walking as a means of going within.

How can you create your own ritual for connecting with your spirit? A hike, camping trip, or even an hour long walk alone will help set the right tone for doing the Hermit’s work.

Before you go out on your solo time, make sure you leave your phone and other distractions at home. This will be your chance to think about yourself and process any questions you have been pondering.

Ask your family or friends for support in this. If someone needs to watch your kids or take care of an errand for you, it is okay to ask. We need to be able to take time for ourselves.

The Full Moon on the 19th will be perfect time to connect to our hermit energy and feelings of gratitude. The beauty of the moon and the release of our emotions will summon these feelings.

The Knight of Wands is also here to support our journey toward gratitude and awareness. He brings tons of warm enthusiasm. He is often known as the “Lord of Lightning” and can ignite new energy in stagnant situations.

There will be unexpected shifts this week that will lead you to new paths. Places where you have felt blocked will open up. You will take on a more positive perspective under the influence of the Knight of Wands.

This card asks us to open our minds and see things differently. This card also shows us that asking for help should be a priority, especially if we have felt stuck. So don’t feel guilty if you need to ask for alone time.

We will feel powerful support from the Knight of Wands and The Hermit. Both cards know there is no time like the present. So open yourself to the here and now.

Mantra for the week: I take time to deeply connect to myself and the world around me. I am aware of the impermanence of life. I am grateful for each moment.
