Nikki’s Weekly Tarot Reading: July 30-August 5, 2018

The Hierophant and The 6 of Cups

Everyone we meet is a teacher to us. Some we seek out and others we unconsciously attract. If we view the world this way, we will always deepen our spiritual path through whomever we encounter.

The Hierophant often pops up in our readings to remind us of this idea. It calls for us to be open to new teachers, and sometimes the places they come from can surprise us.

For me, that surprise came from a stand-up comedy special on Netflix. A comedy special is not the place I usually find myself learning, but Hannah Gadsby’s ‘Nannette’ was powerfully moving.

She spoke about gender, sexuality, and our corrupted systems of power in a beautiful and deeply moving way. The lessons creep up on you, and by the end I was inspired/crying.

At one point Hannah says, “There is nothing stronger than a broken woman who has rebuilt herself.” That line made me audibly say ‘yes’ to my television.

I know that after we have gone through something traumatic, we become stronger and more resilient. I also know you don’t want to mess with a woman who is on the other side of heartbreak. This is not because women become cruel, it’s because they become more powerful.

The Hierophant card has the image of a bird perched on a key. The fact that the bird is a crow is not a mistake. Crows are indeed very similar to the teachers that enter our lives.

Crows are inconspicuous. They are on every corner but are still very mysterious to us. They are highly intelligent and often humorous.  They are our bridge between the spiritual and the mundane, and spark this feeling whenever we hear a sharp caw from out of nowhere.

Because of their connection to the spiritual realm, they can bring up feelings of fear. But when we are open to their messages and not afraid, we will see them as positive guides.

Notice the crows and teachers around you this week. Listen to the wind and the signs from nature. Look out for quotes, books, and songs that lead you to a higher consciousness. There are teachers around us if we choose to see them.

The 6 of Cups is a joyful card that sweetens the energy of The Hierophant. It is a card about recalling loving memories from our past and reconnecting with old friends.

It is about enjoying the simple things in life and finding wonder in our gorgeous planet. Wise sages and teachers will often help us to slow down and see the magic in our world, connecting the 6 of Cups and The Hierophant in their message.

Perhaps the teachings you encounter this week will lead you to recalling joyful memories and reuniting with a love of nature. Or they could lead you to remember how strong you are and how much you have overcome. They could also lead you to seeing the world through the eyes of a child, without hate and fear.

If you follow the wisdom of the cards, it will be a week full of insight and lovely unexpected moments. Open your heart to the messages around you, the universe is speaking.

Mantra for the week: I am open to teachers in all forms and I take in their guidance. When I look to the past, I recall positive memories. There is magic in the air.
