External shifts can be hard to make overnight, however internal shifts can happen in seconds. We all know the feeling of being in a good mood one minute and then a bad mood the next. Imagine if we could harness this power to change our lives completely?
Your internal world is completely in your control and only YOU have the power to wave the wand and turn your experiences into something desirable.
It can be difficult to shift into this frame of mind when things are not going well, but sit back and understand- you may not have control over the events that take place around you, there may be things in your world that you cannot change, but you do have complete control and access to your internal environment, which in turn can help you make the needed changes to your external environment.

1.) Life Inventory:
Sometimes it is necessary to sort through the main issues in our lives and work out what is really bothering us. Chances are, it’s not the events themselves but the thoughts and feelings behind them that are causing the emotional disturbance. While you can spend your time digging through and releasing the pains of the past and worries of the future, this article is all about instant shifts. To instantly take control of your life- ask yourself: what is working and what is not working? Make a list.
Your Mantra: “Today I make a conscious choice to take control and face what is not working in my life and give gratitude for what is working in my life.”
2.) First Steps:
Look at your “not working list”- what is one small change you can make to turn something that is not working, into something that could work? Keep it small, it could be as simple as- I am not going to stress about this just for today, or I am going to write an email to my boss but not send it. If you can’t think of anything, then perhaps there is no point even worrying about it….Every journey is started with a single step forward, as long as you keep moving, you will eventually begin to change your life. Start today, no matter how small.
Your Mantra: “No matter how small a change, today I take one step forward in to turning something that is not working in my life into something that I desire.”
3.) Make a Decision:
It’s time to stop with the back and forth and make a decision to finally commit, let go or take the plunge. Sometimes deliberating on something can hold us back and create energetic blocks that stop us from moving forward. Make a pros and cons list, meditate or flip a coin- either way, it’s time to stop with the fear driven deliberation. Decide today that you are going to finally choose a path. You can always change your mind, but for now, trust in your decision.
Your Mantra: “Today I give myself permission to step out of fear and doubt and to honor and trust my instincts and decisions. I feel confident to make a decision so I can move forward.”
Do you feel fulfilled in your daily life? Well, if the answer is no, today you are going to be able to change that. Think of one thing that brings you happiness, think of one thing that you love to do. Now give yourself permission to do that one thing today. Stop with the excuses, and make the time to do something that makes you feel alive. Try to incorporate more of your passions into your every day life.
Your Mantra: “Today I make the choice to bring more joy and passion into my life by understanding that I deserve to do things that make me feel alive and fulfilled.”
5.) Go for Gold:
Do you have a dream that you keep putting off? Whether you want to learn French, travel, run a marathon or take art classes, the time to start is today. When we put off our dreams and ambitions, not only do we feel a lack of fulfilment but we also end up regretting it down the track. Make the commitment to yourself today that you are going to go after your goals and dreams. Start small, if you want to do a marathon maybe you start off with just a light jog for 20 minutes, make the shift today and see how your life changes.
Your Mantra: “Today I will no longer put off my dreams. I will take the plunge and sign up or start taking positive steps towards fulfilling my dreams and goals.”
6.) Do Something New:
How long have you wanted to try that new restaurant down the street? Or those new dances classes you heard about? What about just simply chatting to the new guy at work? Whatever you decide, make a commitment to do something new today. Stepping out of your comfort zone can open up a world of possibilities and can lead you to places you never even dreamed of. If you are feeling really daring, why not book a trip to a new country or take a drive to a new city or town? You’ll never know what you may find or who you may meet.
Your Mantra: “Today I will give myself the confidence boost I need to shift out of my comfort zone and to try something new. I remain open to the new and exciting experiences that will follow.”
7.) Make a Mental Shift:
Are you holding on to anger or a grudge? Today, give yourself permission to let it all go and to cleanse your mind and spirit of all that no longer serves you. Just for now, try to adopt a more positive outlook or change the way you have been thinking. If you are constantly hitting a road block in trying to come up with a solution, perhaps it’s time to either let it go, or shift your thinking. When you shift your thoughts to something more positive, usually the external shift follows. Remember, thinking positive or negative is a choice- which will you choose?

8.) Body as a Temple:
Your physical body is a reflection of your internal world. If you are feeling tired, run down and lethargic it is time to shift your habits into something that will support your physical body. Just for today, adopt a clean and healthy diet and see how it will boost your mood and your energy levels. Try to also get some exercise in, whether it’s just 10 minutes or 1 hour, it doesn’t matter, what matters is that you made the effort.
Your Mantra: “Today I honor and respect my body by providing it with clean, nutritious food and exercising. I know that when I love my body and look after it, it will look after me.”
9.) Say Thank You:
Look around, you have so much to be grateful for. Today, make the time to give thanks to the world around you. Give thanks to the Sun, your family, your home and more. When you respect and feel a sense of gratitude for what you have, you open the doors of abundance to automatically receive more. Just for today, take a moment to really notice the beauty all around you and all that you have to be thankful for.

10.) Love Yourself:
Learning to love and enjoy YOU is the most important tool in changing your life. At the end of the day, all you have is you, so learning how to love yourself, support yourself and be your best friend is paramount. Today, make a conscious effort to love yourself. No matter what is going on in your life, or how you feel about some of the decisions you have made, take a moment to just forgive and love yourself as you are.
Your Mantra: “I let go of the past, I let go of my fears and doubts and today I simply love myself for who I am. I accept all my flaws and send a healing warm glow of love to my body, both inside and out. I love who I am.”
