Eight of Disks and The Tower
This week we enter Pisces Season, the last sign of the zodiac before the astrological new year. Pisces brings us a sense of closure and ending. We may feel the themes from the past year coming to the surface.
We also have a New Moon in Pisces on February 19. It’s a good time to address what we have been wanting to release so we can make space for the new. Both our cards help us to navigate the days ahead.
Our first card is the Eight of Disks. It also has a message of pausing and taking time to build up our reserves. The image on the card is of beautiful flowers protected by thorny leaves. These leaves shield the flowers from the elements.
Because this card is in the suite of Disks, the message can speak to pausing our spending and building up our savings. However, on a deeper level, it is also about managing our material and spiritual energies so that we can sustain whatever path we choose.
In order to stay balanced and take care of our needs, we have to have good boundaries. We are called to use our voices and, for some, step out of our comfort zone to let others know what works for us and what doesn’t.
The Eight of Disks can also point to a period of rapid spiritual development and growth. If we are feeling depleted, we will not have enough energy to move at the pace we would like.
The card asks us: how can we protect our energy in order to move forward? How can we block the energy zappers in our life? How can focus on what makes us happy and strong?
Our second card this week is The Tower. This is a card that often brings up dread and fear, but I see it as a sign that we are ready for honesty and new beginnings.
The theme of The Tower is truth. The Tower wants us to focus on the truth above all else. It wants us to be vigilant in our truth-finding and seek to remove any lies surrounding us.
The Tower urges us to burn the decaying underbrush in our lives so we can plant our seeds in fresh soil. If we have a lot of debris lying around, there is no place for new growth to sprout.
The Tower asks us: Are we currently holding on to a story that we have outgrown? Are there people in our lives that we need to let go of? Are we engaging in things that deplete our energy or hinder our evolution?
We are called to practice authenticity in order to create a fertile ground in which to grow. We are aware of the blocks we are holding on to and find a way to release them. The warning with this card is, if we don’t do the cutting out or freeing ourselves, things might crumble on their own.
What can we do to secure a strong foundation to build our future? How can we be more honest with ourselves in order to grow? How can we push ourselves (maybe before we are ready) to take action and move forward?
Through The Tower, we will question our narratives. To do this, we start to pay attention to the stories and lies we tell ourselves to get through. We see what is actually true and what is just fear.
The Tower will no longer stand for limiting beliefs or practices. We are worthy of so much but sometimes we settle for so little. But we see ourselves starting to shed those lies and living truthfully.
Mantra for the week: I am honest with myself and take action to move forward. I am stronger when I protect my energy.
