The Aquarius Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse on July 27-28, is one of those rare celestial events that truly come as a gift. During this intense time, it forces us to go within and check in on ourselves. How are we doing? How are we feeling? Do we feel ok with the life we are leading?
When the light of the Moon disappears, it enters into a darkness, into a type of death. Then when it emerges again, in its full light, we notice it stronger than before, we feel at peace knowing that the Moon is shining brightly once again.
This is the same for us too. Leading into an Eclipse, we have to release, we have to journey into our own darkness in order to experience our own type of death. We have so sit with the shadowy side of ourselves and be comfortable with what we find there, no matter how painful it may be.
Sometimes it is only when we sit inside the pain that we are able to transcend it, and glow again like the Moon does when the shadow finally passes.
The shadow will always pass, we just have to trust as we make our way through the darkness, we just have to be willing to surrender and release, so we can emerge once again, fresh and reborn.
This ritual is going to help us prepare for this journey. It is a simple ritual designed to help ground you and protect you from any increased sensitivities.
Aquarius Blood Moon Eclipse Ritual
This ritual is best done from July 26-August 10, 2018
You will need:
- Smudging tool of choice
- 3 candles
- 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil of your choosing (eg. olive, coconut, avocado, almond etc.)
- 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)
1.) Have all your ingredients out in front of you so you can smudge them too. Start smudging your aura first, followed by your ingredients and surroundings. For more detailed instructions on how to smudge, please read this. As you smudge yourself and your home, recite the following mantra or write your own-
“I cleanse away the past, I release my old-worn pains, I let go of yesterday, and begin to rise again. I am safe, I am strong, I am protected. I am light once more.”
2.) Light your candles and place them on the floor or on the table in front of you in the shape of triangle. Pour the oil into the bowl, add your essential oils if using and place it into the middle of the triangle. (Make it a big triangle so you have lots of space between the oil and the candles.)
3.) Take a deep breath. If you like you can inhale one of your essential oils and breathe it in to help relax and calm you. Take a few deep breaths here. Sit in front of your candles and gaze on the light of the flame for a few moments.
4.) Now close your eyes and witness the colors and shapes that appear behind your eyes. Breathe here and allow your mind to calm. Try to focus your attention on the colors behind your eyes.
5.) Withe eye closed, begin visualizing yourself sitting there and imagine a beautiful golden light, similar to the color of your candles radiating out all around you. Mediate on this image for a few moments, or at least 10-20 breaths. See this light around you growing stronger, more vibrant, and filling up the entire room.
6.) Once you have a strong visual of this, recite the following mantra to yourself three times:
“This white light grounds and protects me. I feel at peace. I feel calm. I can relax, knowing that all is in perfect order. There is nothing for me to dwell on or think about, as everything is working out perfectly. Everything is going to be resolved. Everything is going to be just fine. This white light grounds and protects me, and I know I am safe. I know my loved ones are safe. I know everything is as it’s meant to be.”
7.) Carefully dip your fingers into the oil and place a dab of oil over your third eye. As you do this, ask the Universe for help or guidance on one area of your life that is troubling you the most right now. You can use below as a template, or you can just speak from your heart-
“Dear Universe, please guide me through (the situation). Allow me to let go all that is not mine to carry. Allow me to feel at peace with how things are and how things may be. Allow me to let them go so I can feel relaxed and at ease. Allow me the strength to let things be just as they are, and to find the faith that a resolution will be born soon.”
8.) Blow out the candles one by one. As you do, imagine your prayers being lifted up to the heavens and the Universe.
9.) Take your bowl of oil and leave it to charge overnight. You can use this oil to protect your third eye and your energy centers whenever you need it.
If you don’t have a way to store the oil, you can rub the leftovers it into your skin as a nice moisturizer.
