Why is cleanliness next to Godliness? Is there some deeper truth to this or is this just what your mother would say to get you to clean your room?
Everything in this Universe vibrates at a certain frequency, and I mean everything. Every thought, every speck of dust, every piece of clothing, every tiny grain of bacteria and every item in your space has a vibration that emits a frequency.
Take a moment to look around the space that you are in. Every object has an energy and just the same, every thought or every word ever spoken in that space also has an energy. This can be a lot of energy, especially when you are in a cluttered space or in a space with lots of people or things.
It seems only natural then, that energy can build up in a space over time and create a certain feeling in the air.
We have all felt the distinct difference between taking a walk through a temple where the air is very clean and pure, compared to taking a walk through a shopping mall where there is a lot of clutter and stagnant energy.
Cleanliness is not just about germs and putting everything in its place, cleanliness is also about being energetically clean. When your space is cluttered and full of negative or stagnant energy, it pushes you out of alignment.
Just the same, when you are in a space that is energetically clean it pushes you in alignment with your soul, which is the same as Godliness.
We all know how to physically clean a space and while that is very important, it is also important to know how to energetically clean your space as well.
Most of us have lots of energy that has built up in our homes and on our bodies, and we get so used to this energy being there that we don’t even notice it until its gone.
This is amplified if your space is also cluttered and disorganised, as the energy from all the “things” in your space and all the mess also adds to the build up of energy.
For centuries, people have been smudging spaces and auras in order to clean away stagnant and negative energy. In Buddhist temples you will find incense, in a Shamanic ceremony they use sage and in a Zoroastrian fire temple they burn sandalwood.
Smudging is an ancient practice that has also been scientifically proven to clear away 94 percent of bacteria from the air for 24 hours. If smudging can be powerful enough to remove physical matter, it can definitely be powerful enough to remove energetic matter as well.
When your space is clear and clean, it naturally lifts your vibration, which allows you to feel motivated, inspired and creative. A clear space can also heighten your intuition and psychic perception.
Smudging with sage is a great way to clear negative energy from the air, but here are some other options you can try as well-
- Himalayan Salt Lamps
- Essential Oils
- Incense
- Flower Essence Sprays
- Gem Water Sprays
- Palo Santo
- Candles
- Housing cleansing potion (recipe below)
House Cleansing Potion
This recipe makes a potent house cleansing “potion” that you can make to clear the negative energy from your home and also protect your home with positive and clear energy. This potion is great for clearing away energy from unwelcome visitors or if you really want to purge and cleanse the energy of the old in order to welcome in the new.
This is also a great recipe to use when you move into a new home or when someone leaves your home that used to live there (a partner or roommate). You can also use this recipe to ward off negative people from entering your home or to drive away beings that are not aligned with light and love.
You Will Need:
- Few Sprigs of Rosemary
- Few Springs of Sage
- 1 lemon cut in half
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- Rose petals (handful)
- Cloves (1/4 cup)
- Cardamon pods (4-5 crushed)
(You can adjust the ingredients according to your own intuition, strong smell herbs are great for purifying and banishing, spices are great for healing and protecting and flowers or sweet smells are great for adding positive energy).
Directions:
- Clean your entire house from top to bottom
- Cleanse your aura
- Open up all the room doors in your house- you are now ready to make your potion
- Place all of the ingredients into a pot and cover with water. Gently boil the potion on the lowest heat until it starts bubbling and steaming.
- When you see the smoke starting to rise, gently remove the pot from the stove and carry it carefully into the center of the room or space, at this point you can recite your intention. Leave the pot there until the steam dissipates.
- After the potion stops steaming, return the pot to the stove and boil it up again until it is steaming. Turn off the heat and leave it to cool.
- Repeat this for 3 days in a row using the same brew. On the third day after you have let the pot sit in the middle of the room and its cooled, discard the water into the garden.
