Nikki’s Weekly Tarot Reading: April 3-9, 2023

Weekly Tarot

The cards pictured are from the Crowley Thoth Tarot Deck.

Four of Disks and Five of Cups

This week we have a Full Moon in Libra on April 5, which calls us to connect to our hearts and tune into our relationships. It may have us questioning some of our connections and shifting to support our growth. Our cards this week aid us in navigating the days ahead.

Our first card this week is the Four of Disks. It is all about creating and sustaining a solid and positive foundation. It asks us to take stock of what gives us strength and builds us up. And it wants us to remove and block anything that tears us down.

Our strength with this card comes from our greater connection to ourselves, our community, and the planet. It wants us to know we are bigger than just ourselves and the universe supports us deeply.

The card portrays a fortress that gives both security and power. The structure may not be tall but it is strong. The symbols on each of the four pillars are the elements: earth, air, fire, and water.

We often have people or situations in our lives that make us question ourselves and our power. When this happens we need to think of all the things that make us strong and take our strength back.

You can think about how far you have come and all the people in your life who love and support you. You can notice all the things you do each day to prioritize your mental and physical health. You can connect with your spiritual practice and your journey to your higher self.

No negative thought, comment, or experience can take away all the work you have put into building your foundation. Its presence is there and will not be knocked down by anxiety, negativity, or naysayers. The Four of Disks is the antidote to doubt and unsureness.

You are powerful, brave, and resilient. You have a base of positivity and love that you worked hard to cultivate.

We all encounter people or experiences that make us feel less than but the Four of Disks is here to remind us of our resiliency and strength. And with the Libra Full Moon, we will release any energy (or relationship) that no longer serves us.

Our second card this week is the Five of Cups. This card comes up in times of emotional sensitivity. We see five empty cups, representing feelings of depletion. Decaying water lilies and their knotted roots symbolize our inner troubles below the surface.

Our disappointment reflected in this card can come in many forms. Disappointment with ourselves, others, or the world itself. Maybe we are disappointed with certain people in our lives. Maybe we had high expectations and things did not turn out the way we wanted. Maybe we feel overwhelmed by the all suffering in the world.

The Five of Cups asks you to feel your feelings. It is telling you it is okay to feel disappointed, it is part of the human experience. Let yourself cry, write down your thoughts, and really grieve.

However, if you look closer at the roots at the bottom of the card you will see something else, a butterfly. The message from the Five of Cups is that pain can actually be our catalyst for change and the fuel for our metamorphosis.

When a caterpillar becomes a butterfly it literally digests parts of itself. Cell groups then turn the liquid material inside the cacoon into the eyes, wings, and other structures of the butterfly. It is truly amazing.

The Five of Cups is calling us to digest our pain and turn ourselves into something new. We can be our own version of a butterfly that floats on the wind and finds the nectar of each passing flower.

The Four of Disks, the Five of Cups, and the Libra Full Moon are here to strengthen and support us this week. They show us how to move through our emotions and remind us of our power. We have everything we need to move forward with wisdom.

Mantra for the week: At my core, I am loved, capable, and strong. I embrace my adverse experiences as my teacher.
