Eight of Pentacles and Death
We enter Mercury in Retrograde this week, as well as riding the waves of all the other cosmic energies around us. This is a great time to slow down and listen to the cards’ message.
Our first card is the Eight of Pentacles, which encourages us to focus on building our resources. As this is a Pentacle, the message encourages us to pause spending and focus on building savings. On a deeper level, it explores how we manage our material and spiritual energies to support our chosen path.
The Eight of Pentacles can also point to rapid spiritual development and growth. If we feel depleted, we will not have enough energy to move at our desired pace. We need to make sure we have enough rest and nourishment for the path ahead.
The card asks us: How can we safeguard our energy to move forward? How can we change the energy-draining aspects of our lives? How can we concentrate on what brings us joy and strength?
Just as spiders use their eight legs to create their webs, you can use your resources and skills to further your soul’s work. Focus and repetition are key to this process, and with each turn of your own spiral, you will grow and learn.
Establishing clear boundaries is key to preserving our energy. For many, that means bravely stepping out of our comfort zones to express our needs. By doing so, we empower ourselves to move forward more positively and effectively.
Death brings about a powerful transformation. For some, this change can feel disruptive, while for others, it can be refreshing.
Many of us are afraid of change and anything new. We are fearful because we crave permanence and consistency. We want to hold on to whatever we have, even if it’s time to let it go.
But in Tarot, Death is full of beauty and is a deeply powerful card. When it shows up, we are ready to say goodbye to the things that cause us pain. We are prepared to have a profound metamorphosis.
With Death, we ask ourselves: What needs transformation? What must we let go of to thrive? What must die so we can live more fully?
Connecting to our inner voice, we will hear what needs to be released. Whether it is a toxic person, a stagnant job, or a habit we’ve outgrown, we are ready to let go.
With death, there is always some pain. We must acknowledge that letting go will bring grief, even when we release something that no longer serves us.
When you connect with what needs to be transformed, honor this by doing a releasing ceremony or ritual. Write what you want to let go of on a piece of paper, then give the paper its own transformation.
This could include ripping it up and letting it burn, burying it in the earth, or simply saying the words on the page out loud. Whatever you choose, this ceremony will help honor the process of death.
Our cards encourage strength while helping us let go of what no longer serves us. We are invited to embrace our powerful spirit and release behaviors that do not align with our hearts.
Mantra for the week: My strength grows as I safeguard my energy. I embrace the process of transformation in my life.
