Weekly Tarot

Justice and Eight of Swords

This week, we are basking in the glow of the Solstice and the start of Cancer Season. We feel the shift toward summer or fall, depending on our hemisphere, and both seasons bring celebration, contemplation, and the setting of the stage for what’s to come.

Our cards evoke the sensation of nearing a new beginning. We are approaching a horizon, accompanied by some fear and uncertainty. Although we don’t yet see what our next chapter entails, the cards suggest remaining grounded, balanced, and focused to let positivity prevail.

Our first card is Justice. This card is about examining our habits, especially our mental habits, and identifying what we can adjust to create more balance. It is also about ensuring our behavior reflects our values and is authentic to who we are.

Justice is a Major Arcana card, the eighth card on the Fool’s Journey. Lady Justice holds the scales of the balance between good and evil. She is the supreme judge. She is connected to the idea of Karma and that everything we do has a positive or negative effect on our future.

She wants us all to live well, treat each other well, and stay grounded in truth. She wants our actions to be just and good. She will give back to us what we put out, so she calls us to put out positivity, generosity, and love, and to not look at the future with fear but with opportunity.

Under the influence of this card, we reflect on and adjust our behavior. We evaluate where we have stagnant energy, are not growing, and are unhealthy. We also assess where we have let fear, pettiness, or anger take over. We seek to align with our values and make our actions create the future we desire.

When you are clear on your values, you will see where to adjust to feel more balanced and peaceful. This week, take time to look at your habits, even your mental ones. Are they in alignment with your heart?

Living in harmony with ourselves attracts positive energy. When our actions are centered in joy, creativity, and peace, we begin to feel those qualities within ourselves and draw goodness into our lives.

The Eight of Swords has joined Justice to give us even more insight this week. This card is about perspective, boundaries, and awareness.

The Eight of Swords points to a feeling of being trapped. The swords on the card are blocking us from entering the sun-drenched valley in front of us and from feeling the restorative energy of nature that it brings.

We might feel fixed in place by our own thought patterns and habits. We might be trapped by the negativity of the world around us. But this card reminds us that no matter how blocked we feel, we always have some control. We do not need to surrender to fear or hopelessness.

The swords around us are not insurmountable; we can loosen their grip and release ourselves. We can change our perspective, set up boundaries, or tap into the skills that make us strong.

If we surrender to our fears, we are paralyzed by them. The Eight of Swords calls us to stand up to feelings of helplessness and tap into our intelligence and strength.

We are called to embrace the fertile creativity of our minds as an act of resistance. We hold solutions to life’s problems within us, and just like nature, we can find a way to more life by pushing through.

Mantra for the week: I release my fears about the future, knowing I was made for this next chapter.
