It doesn’t matter how “spiritual” you think you are, everyone has intuitive abilities. Yes, everyone.
Call it a gut-feeling or just inner-knowing but we all have the ability to allow our intuition to guide us, all it takes is a little practice and trusting that you can.
Our intuition is the inner voice of the soul and is like muscle, the more it is worked, the stronger it will become. In fact, most of us use our intuition on a daily basis and don’t even realize it.
For example- have you ever just known that someone was lying to you?
Have you ever had a bad feeling about something and seen it come true?
Have you ever felt a nagging feeling in the back of your mind that seems to be guiding you to do or not do something?
These are all examples of your intuition in action and the more aware you become of your intuition, the stronger it will become.
The two most important things you need to develop your intuition are:
1.) Trust
2.) Openness
Seems pretty simple, but sometimes being open and trusting that our intuition will guide us is the trickiest part. Most of us have no problem hearing the message, but acting upon the message or understanding it can sometimes be challenging.
Often our rational mind or ego will step in to make us doubt ourselves, and especially when our intuition is proven to be wrong for whatever reason, the ego has a field day.
You can read more about the difference between the ego and your intuition here, but if you are ready to bring your intuitive talents into your life here is what you need to do….
1. Know That You Are Already Intuitive
Take a moment to think about all the times you have heard or received some intuitive knowing or insights. Perhaps you can even start keeping an intuition journal where you record all your intuitive hunches, how they made you feel and whether or not they were accurate.
When you are starting out, it is good to get an idea of what your intuition really sounds and feels like to you, which is why writing it down can be beneficial. Most people describe it as an inner-knowing but your experience may be different.
2. Clear Your Mind
There are hundreds, if not thousands of thoughts floating through our mind every day, how can we be sure we are following our intuition? This is where having a clear mind can definitely help.
Meditation is often the best tool to help clear your mind, but if sitting in lotus position is not your cup of tea, why not try another form of meditation?
Some people experience the same stillness of meditation through writing, creative work, music or gardening. Do whatever hobby or practice that allows you to go within, stay present and clear your mind.
You can also simply focus on doing some deep breaths in and out maybe 5-10 times in order to still and focus your mind.
3. Dreams
Another way our intuition speaks to us is through dreams. Dream interpretation is often very unique to the individual so take those “dream dictionaries” with a pinch of salt- what means something for someone else may not mean the same thing for you.
Our dreams are a great clue into our subconscious mind and inner thoughts and feelings. By paying attention to the types of dreams you are having, you can slowly start to piece together different messages and where you may need healing.
When you are analyzing your dreams, don’t focus too much on the events. Instead, focus on how the events made you feel. This will give you a clearer picture as to what energetic and emotional message you may have been receiving.
Keeping a dream journal by the bed can also be beneficial in understanding your dreams. Just remember to write your dreams down as soon as you wake up to avoid forgetting them.
4. Connect With Your Angels
Just like everyone has an intuition, everyone also has angels, guardian angels and spirit guides. To welcome Divine guidance into your life, all you have to do is ask and then stay open to the signs that they offer you.
Connecting to your Angels can be an effective way to enhance your intuition because often, if you are open enough, your Angels can send you signs to help validate your intuitive hunches.
Sometimes Angels can also help you to navigate through your intuition. For example, say you have a gut feeling not to do something. You can call on your Angels to help you either get out of the situation or to guide you through the situation with ease and peace.
5. Intuitive Exercises
There are a couple of exercises you can do to help strengthen your intuition such as-
a.) Buy a deck of Angel or Tarot cards and begin practicing on your friends and family. Both of these can be found at most esoteric and metaphysical book shops.
b.) Crystals such as Amethyst can be powerful in helping to enhance your intuition. Take a trip to a crystal shop and pick out a gem that resonates with you. Place it over your third eye (center of your forehead) during meditation and sleep with it near your bed.
c.) Blind Reading- you can read more about this exercise here.
At the end of the day, the most effective way to boost your intuition is to trust it and remain open to the signs that it presents you. The more you become aware of it, the more you listen to it and the more you honor it, the stronger and more accurate it will become.
