Saturn stations retrograde on July 13, 2025. Although Saturn Retrogrades every year, this is the first time in nearly 28 years that Saturn is stationing retrograde in Aries.
Saturn recently moved into Aries back in May, and now with its first retrograde, we are getting a preview of the lessons Saturn in Aries has been trying to instill.
Saturn will remain retrograde until November 27, 2025, and during this period, we will be invited to revisit issues from November 2024 to July 2025, so we can deepen our understanding.
In the cosmic skies, Saturn is considered the Lord of Karma or our Master Teacher, so you can think of this time period as when we are receiving our cosmic homework from all the lessons that have come up for us. Have we started to take in the lessons that Saturn has been trying to guide us with, or have we been ignoring our karmic homework?
Saturn Retrograde will set the record straight. But don’t worry, once Saturn stations direct, it always brings the rewards of our hard work!

What is Saturn Retrograde?
Saturn Retrograde occurs once a year when Saturn appears to be moving backwards in orbit from our vantage point here on Earth.
Saturn guides us to take responsibility for our lives, own up to our actions and decisions, and learn how to create boundaries. It is a very straightforward, black-and-white energy that inspires us to be ambitious, aim high, and excel in all that we are destined to. Saturn can also represent issues with masculinity, father figures, or authority.
As Saturn travels retrograde, it guides us to look over our past actions and see where we have avoided, or perhaps forgotten to take responsibility or set boundaries.
As our master teacher, Saturn looks back over the last few months, checking to see if we have done our homework and are embracing the lessons provided.
Saturn may be a harsh teacher at times, but it only pushes us when it knows we can handle it. In fact, Saturn Retrograde tends to be a rewarding time as we finally start to recognize our own mastery.
Saturn Retrograde in Aries and Pisces 2025
In 2025, our retrograde journey will be covering both Saturn in Aries and Saturn in Pisces. Saturn will re-enter Pisces on September 1st, where it will remain until February 15th, 2026, when it returns to Aries.
This means that from July 13th to September 1st, we will be dealing with Saturn in Aries themes, and from September 1st onwards, we will be dealing with Pisces themes.

- Feeling boundaries/restrictions around new beginnings
- Desire to push ahead faster than we can

- Feeling boundaries/restrictions around creativity
- Scattered energy: confused about how to proceed
- Having to deal with the harsh reality of life
- Boundaries with how we give and receive compassion
- Acceptance of light and dark
- Endings
As it will be the last time Saturn will retrograde in Pisces for another 28 or so years, we are likely to find a greater culmination of Saturn in Pisces lessons taking shape.
