Eight of Cups and Four of Cups
This week, we have a Taurus New Moon on May 19th, and feel the open, fresh, and stabilizing energy it brings. This is much welcomed after the rocky energy of Mercury in Retrograde and the Eclipses. Our cards are here to lovingly guide us back to our center and the present moment.
Our first guide this week is the Eight of Cups. This card often points to a period of stagnation, a time when we might feel tired and unable to generate enthusiasm or excitement.
However, this card should not be viewed negatively as it is here to offer its truth and wisdom. It says, don’t judge yourself too harshly or hyper-focus on what you’re lacking. Accept things as they are and have compassion for yourself.
The Eight of Cups challenges us to shift our way of thinking. It wants us to stop focusing on the finish line and where we want to be in the future. Instead, it asks us to be present for our journey and where we are in this moment. It wants us to be curious about ourselves and enjoy the small, lovely moments.
On the card, the moon has eyes with a faraway look. She is questioning her connection to the life she has created and longs to feel vibrant and inspired. She wants to choose a path that is more authentic and connected to her true soul.
Under the Eight of Cups, we slow down to listen to ourselves and the Universe. We become quiet and focus on our real feelings just below the surface.
This card calls us to start a journey on a new path. One that is full of acceptance of our imperfections and feels deep and genuine. This path is messier and the road is winding, but when we take it we feel fully alive.
How can you embody the Eight of Cups this week? How can you choose the more present and authentic path? How can you enjoy the small, lovely moments along the way?
Our next card this week is the Four of Cups and it supports the work of the Eight of Cups. It represents affection, pleasure, and sensory experiences. When we receive this card, we are craving physical touch, movement, and being in our bodies.
Under the influence of the card, we are drawn to the water. Whether it’s the ocean, a lake, or even a bath, we want to be submerged in water. We also hear the desires of Taurus and its New Moon call to us. We long to make our homes beautiful, eat delicious food, and spend time with those we love.
The Four of Cups calls us to take stock of all the good we have at this moment in time. So many of us are blessed to have amazing friends and family. It wants us to let the love already present wash over us.
When we count our blessings, we allow more blessings to enter our lives. When we focus on all we have, instead of what we are lacking, we attract more goodness.
Use this energy this week to be grateful for each person and each earthly luxury in your life. Thank them for their wonderful support and tell them how much you care.
Mantra for the week: I let go of the desire to be anywhere other than the present. I enjoy the small, lovely moments of each day.
