Two of Swords and Two of Disks
This week marks the start of October and the beginning of spooky season, with the veil lifting all around us. As the seasons change and the light alters daily, the cards reflect the changes happening inside us as well.
Our first card is the Two of Swords. It is sometimes referred to as ‘Peace’ and speaks to a time of tranquility after tension or turmoil. The card shows us seeking higher ground to see things in a different light.
The card depicts two swords crossed through a lotus blossom. Everything is quiet for a moment, and the world is still. We can step into this energy by centering our bodies and giving our brains a moment to rest.
Take some time this week to connect to your physical being with a body scan. Sit or lie comfortably and go through each part of your body, visualizing a warm light radiating comfort to each area. Though this activity is for your body, it will also do wonders to calm your mind.
With this new energy, insights into how to solve issues we may be facing will come through clearly. We will know how to move through any turmoil we currently find ourselves in. Whether at work, in a relationship, or with ourselves, we will find some respite and insight this week.
If you are truly honest about what you are feeling, you can tend to it. It might be harder at first, but dealing with things head-on brings more peace overall.
This shift in perspective will help us know what is really important and let everything else fall away. We will start to feel some hope about the future and see strengths in a situation rather than deficits.
In all versions of the Two of Disks, there is always an infinity symbol. The deck depicted here features a snake coiled around the image of two yin-yang symbols.
This symbol shows us that change is infinite. Even if we’re facing an upcoming transition, change is always happening. There will never be a time when everything stands completely still.
The infinity symbol reminds us that the more comfortable we become with change, the less rigid and fearful we will be. The card calls us to view change with acceptance rather than tension.
Just as a caterpillar goes through a major transformation to become a bewitching butterfly, we can view ourselves evolving into a deeper state when we encounter transformative energy.
The message of balance is also emphasized in this card. If a change is coming for you, take some time to pause. You will need extra care for your body and relationships.
It’s easy to get lopsided during an adjustment period. Don’t let your needs go neglected or run yourself ragged. Make time for yourself, and don’t forget that boundaries are healthy, even with family.
The Two of Disks will be supporting us through the changes ahead. So if something needs to shift, this card will support the process.
If we resist change, this card might push for it anyway. It is said that whatever we resist will persist, and that is part of this card’s lesson. So let’s embrace the forward movement.
Mantra for the week: During periods of change, I find peace in a calm, central place within myself.
