Venus stations retrograde on October 3, 2026, in the sign of Scorpio. She will later move into the sign of Libra, unlocking a new dimension of heart growth and awakening.
The day Venus begins her retrograde represents the start of a new 19-month Venus cycle. A cycle of deep transformation, renewal, and rebirth.
As Venus moves through this cycle, she forms a new petal on the Rose of Venus, a geometric pattern that is created between the Earth and Venus every 8 years.
This 2026 Venus cycle is the last petal on a Rose we have been building since June 2020, making this cycle of Venus, which will run until the next retrograde in May 2028, one of closure and endings.
There is a lot to unpack here, but let’s first start with Venus in Retrograde:
Venus Retrograde October – November 2026
- August 31: Venus begins her pre-shadow retrograde
- October 3: Venus retrograde begins in Scorpio (a new Venus cycle has begun)
- October 25: Venus retrograde returns to Libra
- November 13: Venus stations direct
- December 15: Venus ends her post-retrograde shadow
The retrograde itself is only one part of the journey, but it opens the door. It is the period when Venus turns us inward and asks us to reconsider what love, value, beauty, connection, and fulfillment truly mean to us.
Venus Retrograde and the Heart
Venus Retrograde can be a time of review, release, and preparation for renewal around matters of the heart and our relationships. This includes our relationships with others, money, pleasure, beauty, our values, and even ourselves.
During a Venus Retrograde, past conditioning, heart wounds, and old patterns can rise to the surface. We may find ourselves remembering a former relationship, reconsidering a decision, or noticing where we feel unworthy.
We may feel that we cannot move forward until something from the past has been revisited, acknowledged, and met with greater wisdom.
This does not always mean the past is returning for us to repeat it. More often, it returns so we can understand it differently.
Rebirthing our heart energy is essentially what Venus Retrograde is about. First, we recognize what is no longer aligned. Then, we release or reshape it to reveal a truer and more aligned heart space.
Venus Retrograde in Scorpio
As Venus retrogrades through Scorpio, we are called to dive into the deeper parts of our psyche and explore how they influence matters of the heart.
Scorpio does not allow us to get by with just skimming the surface. It asks us to be willing to confront what is hidden in the shadows: our fears, desires, attachment patterns, jealousies, vulnerabilities, and unspoken truths.
This can be an intense process, but it can also be incredibly freeing. When we are willing to look beneath the surface, we can begin to understand the deeper motivations behind our choices in love, money, intimacy, and self-worth.
Some possible manifestations of Venus Retrograde in Scorpio include issues around:
- Being truly seen
- Vulnerability
- Desire
- Passion
- Intimacy
- Truth
- Reproductive health
Scorpio reminds us that true intimacy requires honesty. It asks us to stop abandoning ourselves in order to be loved, and to become more aware of where fear may be shaping our choices.
Venus Retrograde in Libra
On October 25, Venus returns to Libra, the sign she rules. While Scorpio takes us beneath the surface, Libra helps us consider what we are seeing through the lens of relationship, balance, and fairness.
Here, we may begin to notice where things feel out of harmony. Are we giving too much? Are we receiving enough? Are we being overly harsh with ourselves or someone else? Are we trying to keep the peace at the expense of our own truth?
Some possible manifestations of Venus Retrograde in Libra include issues around:
- Fairness
- Worthiness
- Scarcity/feeling of lack
- Justice
- Judgment of self or others
- Self vs others
- Beauty/Appearance
- Balance in relationships
Scorpio reveals the emotional root; Libra helps us see how that root has shaped our relationships. Together, these two signs offer a powerful opportunity to transform the way we connect, not just with others, but with ourselves.
Venus from Morning to Evening Star
To understand the deeper journey of Venus, it helps to look at her movement from Evening Star to Morning Star.
At the beginning of this retrograde, Venus is an Evening Star. As the retrograde unfolds, she disappears from the evening sky, meets with the Sun, and later returns as a Morning Star.
Understanding the journey of Venus as she moves from Evening to Morning Star can help us to connect with our heart space, understand our love language, our relationship journey, and why we attract who we do into our lives.
Venus as an Evening Star
Evening Star Venus represents embodiment, power, and self-love. She is the inner manifestation of Venus energy. She knows how to love herself, stand in her values, and attract relationships that feel aligned with her soul.
On a shadow level, Evening Star Venus can give too much power to her sensuality and desires. She may overindulge, seek external validation, or feel insecure beneath an outward appearance of confidence.
After Venus begins her retrograde, she conjuncts the Sun and disappears from view. This is a deeply inward point in her cycle and a time when old stories can dissolve, rearrange, and begin to form anew beneath the surface.
Venus as a Morning Star
When Venus rises again as a Morning Star, she represents our values, physical appearance, health, and the love we give to others. She is the external manifestation of Venus energy. She knows how to support and nurture others, share her gifts, and create connection in the world around her.
On a shadow level, Morning Star Venus can overcompensate. She may become too giving, lack assertiveness, or remain in relationships that feel safe but are no longer fulfilling.
We all experience both Morning and Evening Star Venus. These are not fixed identities, but different expressions of Venus that meet us at different points in our lives. Sometimes we are learning how to receive, embody, and choose ourselves. At other times, we are learning how to give without losing ourselves in the process.
Key Dates in the Venus Cycle
As Venus begins her retrograde and moves from Evening to Morning star, there are some key dates we can pay attention to.
October 3: Venus Retrograde Begins
Pay attention to themes that are unfolding for you right now, as this may present clues as to what this new Venus cycle has in store. Remember, while Venus steps out of her retrograde on November 13, her full cycle is 19 months long, plus she is also working with another bigger cycle that spans 8 years.
If you want to dive deeper into the 8 year cycle read this: The Rose of Venus.
October 17: Venus disappears from the evening sky
This is a moment to reflect on Evening Star Venus and how her themes may have presented in your own life.
Consider your relationship with self-love, personal values, desire, sensuality, and the relationships closest to you on a soul level. What have you been trying to attract? Where have you been standing firmly in your worth, and where have you been seeking validation outside yourself?
October 23: Venus conjuncts the Sun
This can be a day of deep realizations and ah-ha moments.
Venus meeting with the Sun represents a hidden seed point in the cycle. We may be able to understand our past more clearly and see how it has shaped our relationships, values, attachment styles, and sense of self-worth.
This is not necessarily the moment when everything feels resolved. Instead, a new awareness begins to form.
October 30: Venus returns as a Morning Star
As Venus returns to the morning sky, we may begin to feel a renewed openness toward the giving and receiving of love in our lives.
This can feel like a rebirth, but it is best understood as the first visible expression of a much longer process. The insight or seed that emerged around October 23 now begins to find its way into our daily lives. We may subconsciously start playing out Venus themes that will become more conscious as the new cycle continues.
November 13: Venus Retrograde Ends
Venus ends her retrograde journey, but her cycle of growth only deepens. At this point, we likely have cleared past matters, let go of old wounding and conditioning, and have gained new awareness.
The Journey Continues
To fully unlock the deeper teachings of the Venus cycle and how it can guide us, we can look to the Goddess of Venus, Inanna.
The 19-month journey of Venus is mirrored in the myth of Inanna. As Inanna (Venus) appears as the Morning Star, she begins her descent into the underworld, surrendering all parts of her identity, only to die and then be reborn into a new power.
As she becomes an Evening Star, all of Inanna’s old possessions are returned to her, but this time, things feel different. She has gained a new perspective and a new power.
To move through this journey, Inanna has to pass through eight different gateways. These gateways are marked by Venus aligning with the Moon. Each of these Lunar Gateways is connected to a chakra and represents an awakening within ourselves.
We can use the journey of Inanna to reflect on our own heart spaces and our own journey of death and rebirth as we move through matters of the heart, our relationships, connections with others, and our values.
If you would like to explore the myth of Inanna in more detail and work with each of the Venus-Lunar Gateways in your own life, I have created an additional premium report that offers just that.
The companion paid PDF, The Eight Lunar Gateways of Venus, will guide you through Inanna’s full descent and return, giving you key dates, chakra themes, Inanna’s symbolic surrender and reclamation, and reflection prompts to help you understand yourself and your relationships more deeply.
