How to Protect Yourself From Energy Sucking Vampires

It might seem like a harsh way to describe someone but often people of a lower vibration have a tendency to feed off others, gathering their energy and strength from another.

This can be seen in an every day setting when someone you know tries to egg you on, or likes creating conflict just to get a reaction out of you. It can also be seen in a more spiritual or psychic sense when a person or supernatural entity tries to leech or draw your energy to make themselves stronger.

If you are left feeling drained or sick after hanging out with someone or when you are in a particular space, or if you take on other people’s energy easily, there is even more of a reason for you to protect yourself.

When faced with an energy sucker, the best thing to do is stop feeding it. Try not to engage in their drama, or allow yourself to get worked up. Eventually, they will go in search of “food” elsewhere.

Here are some ways to protect yourself from this type of energy:

1.) Learn how to Identify The Energy:

Its very important that you try not to judge people who you believe may be an energy sucker. Firstly, they may not be aware that they are even doing it, and secondly, these people often have underlying issues that they need to deal with.

Also, we all tend to energy suck at times, no one is perfect. We tend to do it when we are feeling down, in a negative headspace or when we are envious of someone. While this is not particularly harmful short term, noticing it in yourself is definitely the first step.

2.) Know Yourself:

Once you have learnt to identify the energy, its important to know your weaknesses. If you are more susceptible to feeling drained or ill around someone, avoid spending time with them when you are in a negative or vulnerable place in your life. Also, begin to tune in to your body and mind when you are around these people or in a particular space. Try to identify the energy of what is going on without judgement.

Remember, energy vampires have a way of determining who the weakest link are because they are easy prey, so exploring and knowing your weaknesses and what makes you vulnerable gives you strength.

3.) Meditate, Breathe & Create Space:

When we become in-tune with our bodies we develop an intuitive intelligence and confidence. This can be achieved through meditation, writing, breathing, exercise or any type of activity that calms the mind and creates space between our thoughts.

Having the ability to calm our minds, think positively and go within are the greatest tool for anyone seeking to expand consciousness and protect themselves.

When you find yourself starting to become vulnerable or you can sense that ‘drained’ feeling coming on, go within, take a deep breathe and find that calm place of stillness and space within.

Channel positive energy by reciting a mantra, focussing on the breath, and becoming aware of the ego.

Being aware of the ego in yourself and the other, causes it to rapidly fade away because the ego and awareness cannot co-exist.

4.) Visualize:

Probably one of the best things you can do before you enter a space or engage with this person is to visualize yourself in a beautiful protective white light. When you meditate, imagine this white light surrounding your body and extending outwards.

Recite a mantra that allows only positive thoughts, love and healing energy to pass through the white light. Practice making the light stronger, brighter and bigger each time you sit and meditate.

When in the situation, remember and believe in this white light surrounding you, see it there, know that no one can harm you and keep your mind positive, free and clear.

You can also wear protective crystals that have been channelled during meditation.

5.) Cleansing: 

If you feel that you are dealing with a energy vampire of the supernatural kind or if you feel very drained after an encounter, the best thing you can do is cleanse your space and aura by using sage (see below), crystals, salt or holy water.

No one can drain your energy unless you allow them to so by protecting yourself, and becoming aware of this behavior is really all you need to do.

Walking away and leaving the unhealthy situation is also recommended!
