Intuitive Astrology: Jupiter in Aquarius 2020-2021

jupiter in aquarius

On December 20, 2020, Jupiter leaves Capricorn for the sign of Aquarius.

Jupiter spends about 12 months in each sign, so its placement can give us clues into what’s ahead for the year to come.

As Capricorn is not considered a favorable placement for the expression of Jupiter, we may also notice Jupiter’s energy kick into high-gear as it shifts into its new home of the Aquarius water-bearer.

Understanding Jupiter’s Energy

Jupiter is the planet of expansion and abundance. It shines a light on things so we can see more clearly. It guides us to look at the bigger picture and expand our mindset to gain new insights and information.

Jupiter brings a naturally optimistic energy that always points in the direction of seeing the silver lining and focusing on the higher purpose or reason for all things.

As Jupiter rules over abundance, its energy can sometimes create excess or the desire for more. But integrating and appreciating the abundance already present in our lives is a good way to soften some of this energy.

Jupiter also expands whatever it touches, so whenever Jupiter is active in our cosmic skies, what we are choosing to focus on has the power to expand.

Jupiter in Aquarius 2020-2021

As Jupiter travels through the sign of Aquarius, we are going to feel its energy most strongly on the day it enters, on the day it retrogrades, on the day it leaves retrograde, and the day it leaves Aquarius for Pisces.

Here are the dates to watch:

  • December 20, 2020- Jupiter leaves Capricorn for Aquarius
  • May 15, 2021- Jupiter enters Pisces
  • June 21, 2021- Jupiter retrogrades in Pisces
  • July 29, 2021- Retrograde Jupiter re-enters Aquarius
  • October 19, 2021- Jupiter goes direct in Aquarius
  • December 31, 2020- Jupiter leaves Aquarius for Pisces

Tune in to what unfolds around these times, as it’s likely that Jupiter could be trying to bring your attention to something.

Jupiter expands things so we can see with a new clarity and with a new light. It grants us the awareness to look at things differently and to make changes accordingly.

Whenever we feel stuck or unsure, it is Jupiter’s energy that helps us to soar above it all and to look at the situation from a birdseye view.

Sometimes getting this clarity is what can help us to move from a rigid, stuck mindset, into a more open one.

As Aquarius is a sign that rules over innovation and doing things in a unique way, we may find that 2021 really calls for us to take a new approach.

The old ways of doing things, the tried and true traditions of the past, may just not be enough anymore.

The world is changing, we are changing, and this strong Aquarius energy is only going to advance that.

Jupiter in Aquarius for the Collective

Jupiter entering Aquarius will also bring shifts that we can see on a global level. This is also supported by the fact that Jupiter will not be alone on its tour through Aquarius.

Saturn will also be in Aquarius, and both of these planets in 2021 will be shining a brighter and even deeper spotlight on Aquarius themes.

While there is much debate on when the Age of Aquarius exactly starts, there is no doubt that having both these heavyweight planets in this air sign will bring Age of Aquarius themes to the forefront.

These themes include rapid advancements in technology, a shift to a more community-based approach, new innovations, and a focus on humanitarianism.

Aquarius energy is all about what’s good for the collective. It allows us to understand that the well-being of society is about the whole, not just a few individuals.

Having both Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius for most of 2021, is likely to bring a change to the rules and regulations of society, how we choose to live, and what we choose to value.

There is this strong focus of moving away from the old ways of doing things and instead, embracing new ways that are more just, fair, and equal.

One thing we do have to be mindful of under this presence of Aquarius energy is that we don’t fall into a “group-think” mentality or lose our individual freedoms along the way.

While it is true that society thrives when all of us thrive, we also have to ensure that individual needs are not overly sacrificed for the sake of the group.

We may see a push-pull between these two ideas of trying to adapt to the needs of the whole, without losing sight of the individual. It is definitely a balancing act and one that will be explored through 2021.

Jupiter in Aquarius Journal Prompts

1.) Identify an area where you are feeling stuck. Write it down. Then ask yourself, what is the craziest, radical, most out-there action I could take? Allow your imagination to take over and write whatever comes to your mind. Reflect back on what you have written; what feelings have come up for you? Are there any messages or pearls of wisdom hiding in what you have written?

2.) Identify something that is troubling you. Write it down. Now make a list of all the silver lining moments you can think of. It may be hard at first, but just see if you can push yourself to come up with 3-4 or even more.

3.) Make a list of all the things that make you feel abundant. Be sure to fill your week with at least 2-3 of them.
