On December 17, 2020, Saturn will leave Capricorn, where it has been touring for almost three years, and enter Aquarius where it will remain until 2023.
Saturn briefly dipped its toes into the zodiac of Aquarius earlier in 2020 from March-July. During this brief stay, we got a glimmer of what’s to come as Saturn moves through the sign of the water-bearer.
It is interesting to note that around the same time Saturn first entered Aquarius back in March 2020, many countries around the world entered into lockdown.
Now, as Saturn is approaching the entrance into Aquarius again, many of those same countries are either back in lockdown or considering it.
As Saturn enters Aquarius again on December 17, it is likely we could see the same themes emerging as March. This time however, we may get more information or perhaps more insight into what is unfolding.
While Saturn entering Aquarius may stir up themes that we were experiencing back in March, it is also so much bigger than this.
Let’s take a look into Saturn’s journey through Aquarius and what it will bring-
Saturn in the sign of the Water Bearer
Saturn is considered the planet of rules, regulations, and responsibilities. It is also known as the Lord of Karma.
It is important to note however, that karma is not about punishment, rather we can look at it as fuel for the growth of our soul.
Karma brings to us whatever our soul needs to ascend and evolve higher. Karma brings to us whatever is going to help us navigate the path of our higher selves.
As the Lord of Karma, we can view Saturn as a strict teacher. The work it presents to us is challenging, hard, and can seem almost impossible, but once we start to get the hang of it, we can grow, prosper, and become much wiser than before.
Aquarius, which is an air sign, is represented by the water-bearer. This can sometimes be confusing, but it is the element of air that offers us the alchemy and magic that the water-bearer brings.
The water bearer has a gift to take all of the water, which symbolizes the heavy emotions of our collective consciousness, and transform and neutralize them using the power of air, before pouring them back down to Earth.
The water bearer is the healer for the collective. It is focused on community, humanitarianism, and doing what is best for the highest good of all.
Aquarius energy is also highly revolutionary and wants to do things differently. It is all about innovation, technology, and bringing us deeper into the digital age.
What Saturn in Aquarius will Bring
On the surface level, as Saturn moves through the sign of the water-bearer, we are likely to notice technological advancements, improvements to humanitarian efforts, and a focus on community.
We may see artificial intelligence take-off and perhaps other high-tech innovations that we are yet to even fathom.
Aquarius energy can also help unlock the inner healer in us and make us more accepting towards people who don’t conform to the status quo. There could also be a bigger push for greater equality and to recognize previously marginalized groups.
On deeper levels, Saturn moving through Aquarius can guide us to challenge our own personal identity and our reason for doing things.
Why do we do what we do? What is the motivation for our actions?
We may also feel freer to express ourselves without boundaries and more open to trying new things. It may be easier for us to let go of past traditions, and instead, embrace innovation.
No matter what personal challenges you are faced with during this time, keep in the back of your mind that we are being called to do it differently this time around. The old ways may no longer work, instead we need to rise up and find new ways of moving forward.
Innovation is a keyword for this energy, so how can you innovate and choose to see things differently? How can you turn things on their head to ensure a new and better outcome?

You can also look back to see what major themes were present in your life the last time Saturn was in Aquarius, which was from 1991-1994. Remember, it’s not that the exact same things are going to happen again, rather you will be leveling and up and ascending whatever lessons were unfolding at this time.
The Gateway Planets: Jupiter joins Saturn
Saturn isn’t the only planet filling up the skies of Aquarius. For most of 2021, Jupiter will also be in this zodiac sign.
On December 21, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn will also meet, creating a rare combination of energy known as the Great Conjunction, which will herald us into a new era.
While Saturn and Jupiter will only meet once, having both of these powerful planets in the same sign is going to amplify Aquarian energy, especially throughout 2021.
Both Jupiter and Saturn are also what I consider, gateway planets, which means their energy help us to form a bridge between one state of consciousness and the next.
If we think of their position in our solar system, both Jupiter and Saturn are the bridge between the personal planets that orbit close to the Sun like Mercury, Venus, and Mars, and the planets that are way out in space like Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
It is by navigating the lessons of the gateway planets that we are able to dive deeper into the planets further away, which represent the higher states of consciousness.
With both gateway planets meeting and fusing their energy, we are also able to take quantum leaps forward and ascend higher and faster into those higher states of consciousness.
There are likely to be many galactic activations occurring all through Saturn’s visit in Aquarius but there is no doubt that the strongest of these will occur on December 21, 2020.
You can read more on how this meeting of Jupiter and Saturn is going to affect your sign with your Great Conjunction Report. (If you have to pick one report to get, make it this one!)
Saturn Leaves Aquarius March 2023
Saturn will finally leave Aquarius for Pisces on March 7, 2023. At this time, whatever karmic lessons we have had to learn since March of 2020 will come to a close.
As Saturn leaves one sign for another, it is also said to leave a gift behind as a reward for all of our efforts.
It is only when we look back come March 2023, that we will really be able to understand the lessons that the Lord of Karma was bringing our way.
It is at this time that we will be able to see clearly the road we have traveled and how much stronger and wiser we are because of it.
Navigating your Saturn Return
If you happen to be turning 29, 58, or 87 at any point during March 2020 to March 2023, you are likely to be having your Saturn Return while Saturn is moving through Aquarius.
A Saturn Return occurs when Saturn returns to the exact same place it was at the time of your birth, which takes place every 29 or so years.
You tend to feel your Saturn return for about 2-3 years.
Saturn Return is a time of maturity and leveling up. You are likely to make some big changes at this time that shape who you are and what you are willing to give your time and effort to.
This is also a time for taking responsibility for what you want and going after what you truly desire.
