Intuitive Astrology: Pluto in Aquarius 2023-2043

pluto in aquarius

It was 2008 and I was sitting on my friend’s bed while she looked over my natal astrology chart. I had never had my astrology chart read; I had never even seen a natal chart before, but she was guiding me through it and sharing how Pluto had just entered my sign of Capricorn, and was going to align with my Capricorn Stellium.

I had no idea what she was talking about, but as she explained I became curiouser and curiouser. It wasn’t long before I found myself down the astrology rabbit hole.

I wanted to understand everything I could about Pluto and what it would mean for me over the coming decades.

Pluto was my gateway planet into astrology. Pluto became my passion. When I would do astrology readings for people, I always looked to Pluto. I felt drawn to this mysterious planet that is often dubbed the Lord of the Underworld.

Upon learning that Pluto was going to be closely working through my chart and my life, I felt apprehensive but excited to journey into the Underworld to grow, to understand, and to get intimate with all that it offered.

During Pluto’s time in Capricorn, it aligned with my Uranus, Saturn, Sun, Neptune, and Mercury. If you have a lot of planets in Capricorn you may have experienced something similar.

Needless to say, I have gotten intimate with the Lord of the Underworld in transformative, life-changing, and destructive ways. All things I guess we can expect on a trip to the underworld.

And now here we are. At the end of the road as Pluto is preparing to wrap up its journey in Capricorn.

The Energetics of Pluto

Pluto is the planet of deep transformation. It rules over the cycles of death and rebirth. Its energy is the fuel that burns the fire to destroy, and the fuel that helps the ashes rise into something new.

Pluto is our subconscious, the skeletons in the closet, the things that we have swept under the rug. Pluto is 3am in the morning when you are all alone and the world is quiet.

Pluto represents our deepest desires, our deepest fears, and our deepest subconscious programming. Pluto works in the backgrounds of our lives, moving us through constant cycles of death and rebirth until we are transformed into our fullest potential. How much we allow it to work its magic is up to us and our level of consciousness.

Pluto stirs topics around death and rebirth, guiding us to become comfortable with letting go, loss, shedding, and the transformation that takes place through it all.

Death can be a confronting topic for almost all of us, whether we are talking about it figuratively or literally. But when Pluto is activated, when Pluto is awakened in our lives, it often brings something to an end.

Pluto also guides us to where the power lies and can help to transform and shift power dynamics on both an individual and collective level. In fact, Pluto changing signs can expose where power has been abused and can bring a shift in power.

Pluto Moving out of Capricorn into Aquarius

Pluto has been in Capricorn since January 2008, but now on March 23, 2023, it will move into Aquarius for the first time in over 200+ years.

Pluto will dance between Capricorn and Aquarius until November 19, 2024, when it will move securely into Aquarius until March 2043.

As Pluto has traveled through Capricorn, it has worked to expose and transform issues relating to big-business, materialism, the finance sector, and laws and regulations.

Now that is it moving into Aquarius, we are going to see exposure and transformation in areas relating to technology, AI, community, humanitarianism, and “the people”.

Perhaps one of the biggest shifts we are expected to see with Pluto moving from Capricorn to Aquarius is the move of power from top-down hierarchal structures (Capricorn) to more community and people-driven power (Aquarius).

Pluto in Aquarius

On a personal level, Pluto activates a transformation in a particular area of our lives. This area will depend on your own natal chart, but Pluto often brings the energy of obsession, addiction, letting go, shedding, death, rebirth, transformation, secrets exposed, questioning of life and life purpose, power struggles, being in a position of greater power, interest in the taboo, and intensity.

If you know your chart, you can look to see which house Pluto will be moving through as it journeys through Aquarius. But if you don’t know your chart, pay attention to where these themes may be cropping up for you, as it’s likely to be the work of Pluto.

Keep in mind however, as Pluto tends to affect us on such a subconscious level, it is often only when Pluto has completed its journey through the zodiac that we are really able to pinpoint what lessons and transformations it was trying to guide us through.

On a collective level, Pluto in Aquarius is likely to bring transformations relating to the use of technology and artificial intelligence, our relationship with community, our goals and dreams, and freedom. Pluto in Aquarius may also instigate a greater push toward authenticity.

Whatever transformations we experience on both a personal and collective level are there to move us into a deeper and more awakened version of our true selves. The transformations are there to take an area of our lives that is hidden, unexamined, and unseen, and expose it in some way so we can transcend and evolve.
