The Virgo New Moon on August 23, opens the door to Eclipse Season, ushering in a period of great transformation and acceleration of our soul journey. Eclipses can bring challenging energies to work with, but ultimately, they put us exactly where we need to be for our highest growth.
The Virgo New Moon on August 23, is the first of two Virgo New Moons. The second Virgo New Moon arrives as a New Moon Solar Eclipse on September 22nd. Both of these two Virgo Moons will work hand in hand.
The energies that are on offer under the August New Moon will only be part of the story. Seeds will be planted, but it will be far too early to discern what these seeds will blossom into. While we may be in the dark, this is a highly creative time that allows us to retreat within.
It is in this inner dark space that we can confront ourselves and get real with what we really need, want, and desire. It is in this inner dark space that we can come face to face with all that is troubling us and all that is at the root of any heavy emotions.
The Virgo Virgin is Our Guide
Virgo holds strong energy that supports getting organized and feeling grounded. It is also connected to our health and well-being. Represented by the Virgin, Virgo energy is about accessing that inner wisdom from within. The Virgin is a symbol for not needing anyone outside of yourself for guidance. The virgin is whole and complete in herself, and knows that the most important relationship she will ever have is the one with herself.
Turning to the wisdom of the Virgin Goddess will be our guide under this New Moon and as we navigate the waves of Eclipse Season. In her essence, she is encouraging us to get grounded and to return to ourselves. She wants us to nourish and trust ourselves so we can listen to the voice of inner wisdom that lives within us. This voice of inner wisdom is our compass, our intuition, and our knowing about what is right for us. It is connected to our heart, mind, body, and soul, and can reveal to us all that we need to know.
How can you turn to this inner well of wisdom that flows within? How can you find your grounded peace and access the inner voice that knows the way? How can you trust that the way will be revealed in all divine timing?
Paying attention to our wellbeing, feeling organized, and creating a sense of structure will all help with this.
The Virgo New Moon at the Zero Degree Point
The Virgo New Moon on August 23, falls at zero degrees of Virgo, one of the most potent degrees of the zodiac. It indicates the point before the new beginning occurs, the point of nothingness. It is that liminal space between the old being cleared and the new waiting to be reborn. It is the void.
Being in this void space is like being the caterpillar in the cocoon. It is no longer a caterpillar, yet not quite a butterfly. Being in this void may be amplified under this New Moon. The old ways may have melted away, but the new ways may not be ready to take shape just yet.
Being in the void requires a great deal of patience and trust. It is a time that can stir anxiety because it is a time of not knowing. We may feel like we are walking through life with blinders on, or running on an autopilot that is still connected to the old ways. We have to shake these habits off. We have to step into a place of trusting. We have to allow the old ways to be questioned, even if we don’t know what they will be replaced with.
Try your best to release control under this New Moon. Try your best to keep an open mind. Remember that a New Moon on any zero-degree point of the zodiac is also a highly creative time where we can imprint our ideas into the collective. Set intentions, but keep them open. Put your wishes out to the Universe, but be careful what you wish for. Perhaps instead, just ask to be guided to your highest path and your deepest calling.
The Virgo New Moon and the Sedna Uranus Conjunction
The August Virgo New Moon is making a square alignment with Uranus, the planet of awakening, change, and surprise. Whenever the Moon and Uranus get together there tends to be some wildcard energy. We may not be sure of which way the winds are going to turn. We may also feel the world rattling and rumbling around us as we try to find solid ground. Things don’t feel secure.
While Uranus and the Moon are active in the sky under this New Moon, so too is Sedna, the dwarf planet. Sedna is linked to transformation, which is fitting for our entrance into Eclipse Season. Sedna is also connected to the wound of abandonment and the process of finding ourselves through rejection.
Each of us has experienced abandonment to some degree. For some of us, this wound is more obvious than others. We can feel abanoned by the people in our lives, by our body, our circumstances, and we can even feel abandoned by the Universe.
Sedna calls for us to find where we are needed, where we are loved, and where we can thrive. She reminds us to free ourselves from situations where we are not wanted so we can find our true path and purpose.
If we look at the story of Sedna, she was abandoned by her father and then her husband, and thrown into the sea. But it was there that she became the Mother to all the sea creatures and sea life.
If she hadn’t left her family home and separated herself from all she had known, she wouldn’t have found her life purpose at the bottom of the sea.
Perhaps the story of Sedna can inspire some guidance for you under the New Moon. Maybe we need to move away from all we have known, or perhaps we have to return to the wisdom that we have always known to be true.
Maybe we need to separate ourselves from places and people that trigger feelings of abandonment, or maybe we need to lean in closer to rectify and remedy these situations in ourselves and in our lives.
There is no one way under this New Moon. Especially with Uranus’s volatile presence, we may feel pushed and pulled in many directions.
Just know this is a period of darkness. All will become clear in time.
