The Six of Wands and Seven of Disks

We enter the week with a New Moon in Taurus. This moon is sending grounding and supportive energy as we make our way through the start of Eclipse season. We are gathering our strength and filling up our reserves before we go deeper on our journey.

We have two cards that speak to the spectrum of our successes and failures. Both cards show us how strong we are and the perspective we need to move forward.

The Six of Wands is also referred to as Victory. This card is about fighting hard for what you want and being victorious. It is about taking on a challenge and winning in the end.

This could be a milestone you pass, a relationship hardship you overcome, or a difficult spiritual phase you conquer. Whatever your hardship, this card is here to tell you that you will be a champion. With hard work and passion, you will come out victorious on the other side.

We should feel proud and take a moment to honor the work we have put into achieving our goals. There has always been a struggle before this card appears, so we need to take a moment to celebrate and rest before moving forward.

Pain and confusion could have been heavily present on our path to success. We may feel both excited for our victory and tired from the fight. But please know that you are amazing for all you have done and the Universe is cheering you on.

This card is also a reminder for when we are faced with a new challenge, we can always look back at what we have overcome and be filled with strength. Our past victories can give us the confidence to take on anything that lies ahead.

Our next card is the Seven of Disks, also referred to as Failure. Failing is a messy business. It is hard, fear-provoking, and tiring. Whether it is a failed relationship, business, or personal goal, we can start to doubt ourselves when we fail.

We think there is something wrong with us and we are doomed to fail forever. We cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel and we think that this failure is somehow permanent.

But as annoying as it sounds, failures make us into much wiser and stronger people than successes ever could. Failures teach us how to love ourselves regardless of our outside circumstances and they teach us how to persevere when faced with heartbreak.

The truth is that nothing is wrong with you. Failure happens to every single person, regardless of what you see on the outside. Everyone is struggling: marriages end, people lose money, and things don’t work out.

When we fail, we get an opportunity to evaluate what happened and what went wrong. We ask ourselves: how can we grow and change so that we can be more successful next time? How can we be kinder to ourselves when we do fail? And how can we manage our fear of failure so it doesn’t lead to inaction?

These are all things to contemplate when we are faced with a setback. Working with these questions will lead us to more strength and wisdom as we move forward. They will help us build a more loving relationship with ourselves.

The Failure card has seven coins in a pattern that looks like eyes peering out towards us. There are also beautiful dark blue feathers that create a lovely pattern. I have always seen these coins and feathers making the shape of an owl.

Owls have long been the symbol of wisdom. And to me, that is what failure is all about, the difference between being smart and being wise. Wisdom is a deeper more intuitive feeling. It comes from experience and age. When you share wisdom, people gain insight into their own experiences and avoid painful mistakes. Failure makes you wise.

This week we get the chance to think about our success and our failures. We zoom out and are grounded by this beautiful perspective. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, but we are always learning and growing. Let this perspective fill you with strength for the next part of your path.

Mantra for the week: I am filled with pride from my successes and wisdom from my failures. Every experience is making me the person I am meant to be.
