Queen of Rods and Seven of Cups
This week, we have two power cards that give us tangible ways to support ourselves. They share grounding energy and a gentle push to help us feel stronger for the days ahead.
Our first card this week is the Queen of Rods, also known as the Queen of Wands. She has reserves of inner strength and knows her power. She is determined and full of grit. She is here to support us through the challenges that lie ahead.
The Queen’s body is adorned with the beauties of the earth. In one arm she is holding a staff that grounds her. With the other, she is holding a treasured sunflower from the forest. These items share their good health and grace.
The Queen of Rods is our trusted guardian. Through her earthly wisdom and cunning use of resources, she nurtures others and herself. She is in our corner, helping us feel bold and courageous. Her generous spirit will fill us, and we will feel safe and inspired.
She is here to help us tap into our wisdom and replace fear with knowledge. Our fears usually live in our imagining of the unknown, but when we are aware, we can be less afraid.
The Queen of Wands offers us her aware and grounded energy. She says to fill your home with flowers and enjoy the magical pleasures of this planet. She calls us to connect to what is ancient and powerful in us, to nurture our bodies, and to provide strength to others in need.
Our next card is the Seven of Cups. When this card shows up we know we are under her spell. We listen to the part of ourselves that just wants a quick fix. We feel drawn into a cycle of instant gratification and we lose our way.
We might feel cloudy and disconnected from our compass. We could not be thinking clearly due to a problematic pattern. And the Seven of Cups is pointing to some less-than-healthy behaviors that might be taking up space in our lives.
Whether it’s a relationship not connected to our hearts, a job that pays the bills but does not fulfill us, or even the wine and endless scrolling that soothe our brain after a long day but don’t fuel our spirit.
These pleasures can easily deceive us into thinking that they’re something we need. We start to crave this way of operating instead of healthier, more sustainable choices. The Seven of Cups shows up to make sure we see through the illusion of this soothing.
Healthy choices are difficult to make because they usually require more planning and effort. And if we have been dealing with emotional or physical pain, the effort is just that much harder. But we are called to remember that these things are not making us happy. They may be delaying unhappiness for the time being, but they are not making us more joyful in the long run.
When we step back and examine our patterns, we adjust and recalibrate rather than just operating on autopilot. This recalibration will be so worth the effort.
There is nothing wrong with pleasure itself. The cards want us to see whether we are experiencing quick, short-term pleasure or a more restorative pleasure. It wants us to cultivate pleasures that enrich us and make us feel more alive and strong, to find things that truly fill our cups.
Mantra for the week: My fears are eased through the grounded energy of the earth. I let go of patterns that hold me back.
