Nikki’s Weekly Tarot: September 20-October 6, 2024

Weekly Tarot

The cards pictured are from the Crowley Thoth Tarot Deck.

Prince of Disks and Eight of Wands

We are entering a new month this week and welcome a Solar Eclipse in the sign of Libra on October 2. Solar Eclipses are known for opening doors and bringing fresh and powerful energy. And since it’s in the sign of Libra, the energy might focus on our relationships. The cards help us understand how to move through the days ahead.

Our first card, the Prince of Disks, is full of wisdom but is also heavy. It speaks to the hard times we have endured and the obstacles in our past that continue to impact us.

We are not light and breezy when making decisions or taking steps forward. We have experienced deep pain and loss, and it informs our behavior.

The Prince of Disks sits on a cumbersome chariot pulled by a large but determined bull. At his back are boulders of different sizes that push into his skin.

The boulders represent our past and the pain we have experienced. We cannot let go of the hard times behind us, so they sit as we carry them along our path.

We could feel depressed by our struggles and our inability to let them go entirely, or we could embrace them as something that makes us wiser, stronger, and more compassionate.

I think this card can speak to our personal and collective pains. We feel heavier because of everything we have been through, but we are also more aware and, hopefully, more loving.

We have grown in our empathy and perceptions of life. We can feel and see things we couldn’t before. We know how to support people in ways that match what they truly need. We can also see through deceptive and corrupt actions.

Traditionally, the Prince of Disks is slower-moving and takes time to make decisions. They do this to think deeply about their next step.

The pains of their past have given them wisdom and insights. They use this knowledge to think through all the scenarios and what could go wrong.

With the Prince of Disks, we tend to be smarter in our choices. We do not make the same mistakes, and we prioritize our relationship with ourselves.

However, we can also fall into a pattern of not making decisions or overthinking everything. Our past can make us overly critical, and we can feel that inaction is the best choice. So, be on the lookout for any stalling behavior. We must still make decisions, even if we take more time.

Our next card is the Eight of Wands, which embodies the potent and fast-moving energy we often feel with Eclipses. It points to the feeling of being sped up, where everything evolves rapidly, which is an interesting partner for the Prince of Disks.

Some may feel overwhelmed by this period of rapid movement. They may need to ground themselves to stay calm and connected.

Warm tea, journaling, and connecting with friends are all great grounding activities. Long meditation or some sort of physical movement are also ways to bring yourself back into your body.

It’s helpful to know it’s not all intense with the Eight of Wands. This card also aids in moving blockages. This quick and light energy of this card will push along obstacles, which is why it’s such a great partner for the Prince of Disks.

We might feel like we can tackle a project that was difficult for us just a few weeks ago or finally resolve a relationship issue. It could be that we have more time now or that we just feel more inspired. Whatever the reason, you will encounter fresh insights and open new doors.

Even if we feel preoccupied with the world’s anxieties, we can still move forward with the support of the Eight of Wands and its swift clarity. It reminds us that we can succeed in our own lives, even when things feel heavy around us.

Mantra for the week: When I open myself up to the energy of the Solar Eclipse, I encounter clarity, compassion, and peace.
