The Sun and Mars come together on November 18, 2023, however we will feel this energy all through the month of November, and especially under the November 13th Scorpio New Moon.
In astrology, the Sun represents the essence of who we are. It illuminates our true self and is our key to the cycles and seasons of life within us and around us.
When the Sun aligns with the planet Mars, it takes on more of its energy and beams it down into our core.
In Ancient Greek mythology, Mars was the God of War and was one of the most celebrated and revered. The month of March was dedicated in his honor, making him the God that rules over the Equinox and the start of the astrological year.
Having Mars rule over a time of rebirth and renewal is no accident and indicates that Mars was really so much more than just the God of war.
Mars was often depicted riding a chariot with two horses named Phobos and Deimos, with Phobos meaning fear and Deimos meaning terror or panic.
Mars would ride these two horses into battle, spreading fear and terror to the opposing side however, the two horses also symbolized Mars overcoming his own fears too as he headed into battle.
(Fun fact: Both Phobos and Deimos are now the names for the two Moons of Mars.)
Although we are not Gods of War, fear and panic often ride along with us as we journey through the ups and downs life brings our way. But, just like Mars, we learn to ride on anyway.
Mars represents bravery and courage, but also the ability to keep going and start again, even when life knocks us down.
We may not all be fighting in a war, but we do have our own personal battles and our own personal defeats and victories we are faced with every day. They bring fear, they may even fill us with terror, but there is a way through when we find our courage, our bravery, and our determination.
In modern astrology, Mars is the planet of action and motivation. It is the planet that helps us get up and go and put a pep in our step. It is the planet we look to when we need a push, when we need a surcharge of energy, and when we need to stand up for ourselves.
Mars also rules over Aries, which is the first sign of the zodiac and the ruler of the head and top of the body.
Most of us also come out of the womb headfirst into life, and this is the strength Mars brings us. The strength to take our first breath, the strength to take this Earthly journey, and the strength to know that even though one day it will all be over, it shouldn’t stop us from living life to the fullest.
All of us have Mars energy within us, and when the Sun aligns with Mars during the month of November 2023, we will all be able to benefit and tap into this energy.
Mars and the Sun aligning is a time to get motivated and to put our fears to the side so we can follow through on our dreams and goals. It is also a time to remind ourselves of what a gift it is to be alive and to be part of this world.
We all have a vision for ourselves or something we wish to achieve, and while the road may feel long or filled with obstacles, with Mars riding the chariot, we can feel strong and confident that no matter what, there will be something to learn, some level of growth, and something to take away from it at the end of the day.
This Mars energy will be felt most strongly on November 18, 2023, so use this day to take action and to overcome a fear that may be blocking you or preventing you from moving forward.
Take a moment on this day to think about something you would like to do or something you would like to achieve. Then, make a list of all the fears that are stopping you or preventing you.
Looking at your list of fears in front of you, think about a way you can challenge them. Very often, our fears are exaggerated or not as bad as we make them out to be.
Most of the time, our fears are playing tricks on us, making us believe we shouldn’t or can’t do something when really, we can.
Sometimes, we have to listen to our fears; other times, we have to feel our fear but move headfirst anyway. Sometimes, we have to use our fears to guide us as to what really matters and what is really important.
During the month of November, see if you can channel this Mars energy. See if you can feel the fear, but have it work for you! See if you can use it to motivate you and to encourage you to dig a little deeper and aim a little higher.
Along with being a symbol of bravery, Mars is also represented by the woodpecker. The woodpecker is a small, unassuming bird with a long and sharp beak that can pierce all the way into a tree. The bird’s pecks may be small to begin with, but eventually, it is able to carve out a hole and find the buried treasure.
This is the energy on offer to all of us during the coming days. Use this energy to stay motivated, to go after your goals and dreams, and to know that no matter whether you fail or succeed, there is always something to gain, and something to be said for taking that leap and just going for it!
