Nikki’s Weekly Tarot Reading: January 20-26, 2020

weekly tarot reading

There is New Moon in Aquarius on the 24th of this week, bringing about some disruption and change. It is calling us to open up and release what was below the surface.

This energy may carry some uncomfortable emotions, but the cards are here to support us in knowing how to navigate this time. We have two powerful major arcana cards bringing their inspired wisdom.

With our first card this week, our initial response might be fear. We are afraid to face whatever message the card is offering.

But we should not fear the Death card. It is not a card of darkness but a card of new beginnings. It is about letting go of the heavy baggage we carry that make our steps more difficult. With Death, we are shedding the past and starting with a lighter load.

Death brings a powerful transformation. This change could feel somewhat disruptive or it could feel like a breath of fresh air.

Often we are afraid of change and afraid of the new. We are fearful because we crave permanence. We want to hold on to whatever we have, even if we need to let go.

But death is simply a transformation.

In tarot, Death is full of beauty. It is a deeply powerful and positive card. It means we are ready to let go of things that are causing us pain. We are ready to have a deep metamorphosis.

What in your life needs to be transformed for you to live more fully?

Through connecting to our inner voice we will hear the message of what needs to be released. Whether it is an addiction, a toxic person or a stagnant job, we are ready to let go.

With death there is always some pain. We need to acknowledge that there will be grief in letting go, even if we are releasing something that is bad for us.

When you connect with what needs to be released, honor this by doing a ‘Releasing Ceremony.’

Write what you want to let go of on a piece of paper, then give the paper its own transformation. This could include ripping it up and scattering it in the wind, letting it burn, or burying it in the earth. Whatever you choose, this ceremony will help honor the process of death.

Our second card this week is the gorgeous Art card. It brings information on how to use the open space after our release from the Death card.

This card is about combining and harmonizing forces in our life to create something new. It is about taking small things and creating something larger together.

The Art card features a beautiful figure blending fire and water to create a new and more powerful substance. She is practicing the ancient art of alchemy and is calling us to do the same.

What in your life can you grow or deepen through a partnership? Can you amplify your voice through working with another person or entity? Can you combine your various passions into something bigger and bolder?

Once, I was working with a client who received this card. I told her that it pointed to a powerful partnership with an artistic flair that would bring her great success.

She did not share many details about her life during the reading, but messaged me a few weeks later to tell me she had quit her job to go full time with her own vintage clothing business. In this job she partners with many other female artists and entrepreneurs.

The Art card had given her the push and confidence needed to take that risk. It is a card that is all about creativity and growth.

What is the Art card calling you to do? How does its beautiful imagery and process of alchemy inspire you?

We are called to open up and listen to our hearts and the Universe. Let the vibration of this card guide you under the influence of the New Moon.

If we listen now we won’t get a big kick in the butt later. We are always receiving messages and the sooner we listen the less intense the impact will be.

Today the messages may be whispers or a gentle talking, but they can turn into shouting later if we aren’t careful.

This week, allow yourself to receive your messages and take action to move in your soul’s direction. The cosmos is full of signs and energy right now, we just have to be open to their calling.

Mantra for the week: I let go of baggage and welcome new energy. I build something greater than myself through creativity and partnership.
