June 2023 feels like two different months rolled into one. In the first part of the month, there feels to be this sense of up and down energy. We may feel a little scattered, or find ourselves oscillating through periods of being on track and getting things done, then procrastinating, feeling stuck, or finding ourselves idle.
As we reach the second half of the month, we have an incredible flow of feminine energy. This energy will guide us to work with our hearts and connect with the wisdom of feeling. We may feel more in touch with our bodies and extra sensitive to the world around us.
Relationship issues may also come up for us, or we may just find ourselves questioning who we are in our partnerships and what they bring out of us.
In the second half of June, the energy feels to be slower, and we may be in more of a passive state. While this passive state can feel a little sticky at times, there is also beauty here in going with the flow, surrendering, and just accepting where we are in our lives.
Sometimes just accepting things the way they are can bring the biggest changes and shifts.
As we reach the end of the month, we will have three planets in retrograde, with Venus also set to follow in a few weeks. All of this retrograde energy can definitely create a slowdown and can naturally guide us to reflect and look to the past before we can move forward.
Let’s take a look at the key dates for the month and how you can work with the energies –
Astrology for June 2023
June 1: Mercury Leaves Shadow Phase
Mercury, the planet of communication, is now back on track after emerging from its retrograde journey on May 21st. Mercury is known as the messenger of the gods, so pay attention to any messages or insights that may be delivered your way. If you experienced technology mishaps, delays, miscommunications, or contract disputes over the last few weeks, you might notice things flowing more smoothly from this point forward.
June 3: Sagittarius Full Moon
The Sagittarius Full Moon is much lighter than the ones we have experienced over the last few months. It holds a playful vibration, reminding us to make time for lightness, joy, and adventure. How can you bring these qualities into your life? Saturn, our master teacher and the planet of karma, will be activated under this Full Moon too, so even though we may find ourselves navigating some challenging lessons and perhaps even paying off some karmic debts, the mantra seems to be – “a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.” See how you can create some sweetness in your life, regardless of whatever medicines are served.
June 5-6: Venus enters Leo
Venus entering Leo is a very important cosmic event to take note of. Pay attention to what happens on this day around matters of the heart and with your finances, as this may hold a clue as to what themes you will be working with over the coming months. As Venus travels through Leo, it will station retrograde on July 23rd. Venus only retrogrades every 18 months or so, making this rare energy to work with. Venus Retrograde is a time of heart opening. We are often guided to clear and mend wounds around our hearts that block the flow of love. During a Venus Retrograde, we may also find ourselves exploring themes around our relationship with money and whether we are feeling enough pleasure or joy in our day-to-day routines. Venus in Leo can also get us thinking about passions, purpose, and how we can truly shine. Venus will be in Leo until October, so these will all be powerful themes for us over the coming months.
June 11: Pluto Retrograde Returns to Capricorn
Pluto stationed retrograde on May 1st in the sign of Aquarius, but today it moves into Capricorn, where it will stay for the remainder of 2023. Pluto changes signs every two decades or so, making this transition between Aquarius and Capricorn rare and extra special! Pluto first moved into Aquarius in March this year, so while we are just starting to unpack this cycle, it looks like we are getting a little breather. As Pluto moves back into Capricorn, the tone will shift, and we may find ourselves revisiting transformations of the past. Pluto first entered Capricorn in 2008, and while most of us will not be looking that far back, we may find ourselves revisiting the period between October 2022 and March 2023. Consider any changes, upheavals, or transformations that took place, and admire how far you have come! While Pluto in Retrograde won’t be stirring any new information, it will be helping you to fine-tune whatever new energies have now come into your life. Pluto Retrograde is also a time when we can dive deeper into our subconscious in order to peel back layers and reveal a greater truth. Because of this, it is a good opportunity to do healing work and clear traumas. You can read more on this here.
June 11-12: Venus in Leo Square Jupiter in Taurus
This is a beautiful energy to work with! It blends the perfect amount of creativity mixed with taking action. Sometimes we can be passive with our creative projects and visions, but today the cosmic skies are giving us a boost, reminding us to move forward with our creations. This is a great day to tackle those creative projects you want to complete, especially if they are challenging.
June 17: Gemini New Moon
The Gemini New Moon carries a friendly tone, inspiring us to enjoy the company of others! We may feel particularly social or perhaps drawn to share our story in some way. There is also beautiful romantic energy attached to this New Moon, guiding us to feel optimistic about matters of the heart. If you have recently gone through a breakup, this New Moon is wonderful fuel for a new beginning. You can use the energy of this New Moon to focus on self-love and to set intentions for your next relationship. There is also strong energy around this New Moon, reminding us to honor our skills and talents regardless of our relationship status. Sometimes we can lose our sense of independence and forget about the gifts we have inside when we are partnered with others. Sometimes we can even find ourselves being the supportive one in the relationship while the other person lives their dreams. This New Moon calls for the creation of greater balance and will help remind you to find your independent path, regardless of your relationship status.
June 17: Saturn Retrograde in Pisces
Saturn stations retrograde on the same day as the New Moon, amplifying its energy. Saturn moved into Pisces in March 2023, so this is the first time in almost 28 years that we are experiencing a Saturn Retrograde in Pisces! If you want to dive deeper into the Saturn Pisces themes, check out this article. Saturn is our master teacher and the Lord of Karma. During this retrograde period, we are invited to review lessons and teachings of our past, just to make sure we have understood them! We may very well notice themes that were prevalent in March coming back around for further inspection. Saturn can bring challenges, and its retrograde can bring those challenges closer to the surface. But with Saturn, our task is to step up and take responsibility. Saturn never brings a challenge we can’t handle, so trust you can navigate through whatever comes up!
June 18: Sun Square Neptune
Neptune is the planet of illusions, dreams, creativity, and unconditional love. It is considered the higher octave of Venus. On this day, we can channel Neptune’s energy with greater ease. We may find ourselves feeling extra creative, more in touch with our heart center, and our dreams may be more vivid and prophetic. Neptune however, can also create illusions and with this can come a mental fogginess and a sense of confusion. Trust your instincts, especially under this alignment. Be sure you are not making decisions through rose-colored glasses. Use this energy to fuel creative projects and self-expression.
June 19-20: Venus Enters Shadow Phase
The upcoming retrograde of Venus is one of the biggest cosmic events of the year. At this time, Venus slips into shadow phase, which means she begins unwinding for her retrograde journey. Ancient astrologers believed that when a planet stationed retrograde, it was entering the underworld, moving deeper into the subconscious and hidden realms of life. It is at this point that Venus will begin preparing for her underworld journey. We may not be able to make sense of what’s to come just yet, but themes that are coming up now in regard to love, money, beauty, and relationships, are likely to come back in some form over the coming months. Stay tuned for more on this! Plus, learn more about the amazing cycle of Venus here.
June 21: Solstice/ Sun Enters Cancer
Welcome to Cancer Season! Cancer Season arrives on the sacred Solstice day. On this day, the energy-grid of the planet moves into a higher harmony, thinning the veil and allowing us to access the spirit of things with greater ease. With the veil thin, our intentions and vibration also become more powerful. The Solstice also marks the official start of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the start of Winter in the Southern Hemisphere. The Sun moving out of bubbly Gemini and into sensitive Cancer will guide us to be more in touch with our heart and body. Cancer is also a sign associated with loyalty, family, and creating a sense of home. With all of these energies activated, you may wish to explore ritual work, bonding with nature, and celebrating the turning of the seasons. Here are some Solstice ritual suggestions here.
June 21: Ceres enters Libra
Ceres, the Goddess Asteroid of Grain and Harvest, enters the Goddess-ruled Libra, creating an influx of nourishing, supportive, and regenerative energy. This energy is best expressed through the feminine principles of going with the flow, allowing, and surrendering. Couple this with the strong Venus energy that is also flowing through our cosmic skies at the moment, it really seems we are being guided to step into a place of trusting and allowing.
June 30: Neptune Retrograde
Neptune joins both Pluto and Saturn as it enters retrograde. Having three planets in retrograde, plus Venus on the way, can create a slow-down effect in our cosmic skies. We may find ourselves naturally looking back in order to move forward. Neptune is the planet of creativity, illusions, and dreams. In retrograde, it can lift the veil, guiding us to see the truth. We may not have seen things clearly before, but now we can see what has been going on behind the scenes. Think of this like a magician revealing a trick. What you were seeing was just an illusion, but now that you know how it’s done, it creates a shift. This shift may be big or small depending on where you are in your own life. A higher truth has now been found, and this higher truth will continue to evolve as you grow in consciousness.
